Hey All!!! I am still on orders for R & R, so not much to report. Now, will be a good time to tell you about my medical team. I wish than I had pictures and names of everyone. But, the list goes on and on.
Dr. G. Deerhoi was the lead surgeon on my team. He was what I would describe as soft spoken. He was extremely thorough in his visits, making sure I understood everything. He made sure I knew what was going to happen and what to expect would follow. But, you know me, I had to throw them a small curve. That curve I will discuss only with my closest friends. As my balloons started to circulate, I made a elephant hat for Dr Deerhoi. He promptly put it on his head and went on with my visit. I was told later that he came to a patient that was having a bad day, so he donned the hat and went in. I guess it brought a smile.
Dr. Hoffamn was also part of the team. Again, kind of quiet but I guess docs do need to be professional. He was always upbeat and had a smile. When I met him, I notice the cross and dove hanging around his neck. This was very comforting and calming.
Bert was first care giver I had before going into surgery. Her smile and face just seemed to beam. I could tell she truly enjoys what she does.
Susan was the first to care for me after surgery. From surgery I went to a step-down unit. A small ICU type set up just for kidney transplants. First impression was that she was all business. I was wrong. She was all about caring. She always had a smile and a very positive attitude, which helped with mine. For that, I thank her.
I know that I shouldn’t pick favorites. But, I couldn’t wait for either Bekah or Dr. Broderick to visit. I was even better when they both showed up together. They did t5he medial visit thing but then chatted and laughed together. They smiles and laughter just brought out the clown in me. That made their smiles even brighter. Bekah enjoyed her balloon so much we had to take a second picture as she tried to stop laughing. Dr. Broderick was with Dr. Deerhoi when I made his balloon. She had tears streaming down her face and had to turn away. I see bright futures for both these young ladies.
The entire staff at UAB and at the Town House have just been the very best. I keep saying it and I’ll say it again.
I am blessed!!!
